Part-time RA position in software engineering at the Center for Natural Language Processing (CNLP) in the School of Information Studies of Syracuse University. The successful candidate must be a hands-on Java programmer/architect and have strong experience with software architecture, processes and methodologies. Responsibilities include designing and implementing Natural Language Processing algorithms and software; and participating in software development processes in CNLP projects. Tasks include requirements analysis; configuration management; troubleshooting/maintenance; design, coding, testing, and documentation. Qualifications include a B.Sc. in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
The candidate also must possess excellent organizational skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to communicate with non-technical people.
Technical Requirements for the position are:
* Experience in Java and strong background in OOD
* Proficiency on Unix/Linux and in Windows
* Experience in database technologies
Preferred skills/experience:

* Regular Expressions
* User interface and web design
