| Phase II focused on the creation of Adapation Tools for the prototype, LiVIA, that allow users to tailor the software for their domain of interest and needs.
In LiVIA Phase III, we will address Question Fulfillment reuse in document-based consumer / producer environments, typical of many large corporate and government organizations. In these environments, consumers have complex information needs (INs) that are different then simple questions in that each IN is composed of multiple questions about sub-topics of interest, events, dates, locations, and may well require lengthy complex answers. When questions are asked of the system, the LiVIA Question Fulfillment component will search its existing INs to see if reports produced for an earlier IN can answer the question in part or in full. If not, other sources are queried and reports prepared. Producers are those who write reports in natural language free-form in response to a specific question within an IN. As these reports are written and added to the central store of reports in response to questions within INs, these Fulfillments are automatically compared to the questions within standing INs and forwarded as answers to those standing questions. Accomplishing this bidirectional link between questions within INs and reports will significantly and positively impact document-based business practices in consumer / producer environments. |
